09:49 pm - First Frost
Raku!, calm
It officially dropped below freezing last night, and I had a slight rimming of frost on my car when I went out this morning. I don't think the ground froze--there wasn't any frost on the plants that I could see--but glass is a different matter, as is metal. It looks likely that tonight will follow a similar pattern.

On Mondays I'm responsible for getting dinner prepared since I get home before everyone else (Mondays are piano lesson days for my sibs and my mom). Today mom picked out a new recipe to try from one of her many cookbooks. I had no problem with this, as I love trying new recipes. This particular one was very simple both in terms of ingredients and preparation, and it turned out very tasty. It's a combination of apples and ham steak with a brown sugar and mustard glaze. Takes about twenty-five minutes to prepare (probably less if you have all the ingredients ready to hand, which I did not). I added green beans for a vegetable and rice for a starch and we were good to go.

I have determined that in order to go ahead with my design projects I first need to get books on celtic knotwork. Specifically, books on creating designs. The theory and so forth behind it. Because while I could just pull clipart from somewhere in theory and use it, it's much more satisfying to draft the entire pattern myself. I can actually call it mine at that point. Of course, having not really looked into this before I don't know which books are good resources (and still in print). Suggestions would be welcome.

Things I did today that I'm proud of: Returned my library book and renewed the other one due today, avoiding fines. Made a tasty dinner for my family. More progress on my knitting project.

Things that make me happy: chilly days, having plenty to do, Dinotopia, celtic knotwork, being with my family, talking about my stories with people, getting constructive criticism on my writing
